CWD in NY

The disease was found in two managed herd in New York.

No cases have been discovered in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, where results from the most recent hunting season were announced yesterday, but the news from New York last week has hunters on edge.

“There’s no evidence that [the disease] is passed from deer and elk into humans, but that doesn’t mean it’s never happened,” said Caughey, a biochemist.

Meat from one of the infected New York deer was fed to people at a fire department fund-raiser before the test results were complete; state officials have told people not to worry.

Yeah, don’t worry.
Nice job by woodswoman for seeing this story first.
