Black Bear Attack
Black bear attacks 3 at state park.
Three people were injured and one remained hospitalized yesterday after being attacked by a black bear Saturday at Hickory Run State Park.
Park officials said the attack is the first by a black bear in park history.
This park has a huge boulder field…I’ve been here a couple of times.
The 15,500-acre Hickory Run State Park, Carbon County, lies in the western foothills of the Pocono Mountains. This large park has over 40 miles of hiking trails, three state park natural areas and miles of trout streams. The Boulder Field, a striking boulder-strewn area, is a National Natural Landmark.

my biggest fear when hiking alone… hope to have the presence of mind to do the right thing if I’m ever in that situation…
I am curious if the people involved provoked the bear in some way. We have bears in our yard
all the time and I have not know them to be aggressive in any way. Actually, they keep their
distance as do we or they just run away.
